With your music and our props and craft, your group will have a great time learning about music.

If you are a Junior Girl Scout leader and would like to use this kit to earn your Music Fan Junior Badge here is our suggestion for fulfilling the requirements. Of course, it is not meant to infringe upon your own interpretation of the badge or the requirements printed in the badge book.

Requirement 1 - Express Yourself
Design your own music award. It can be an artist from today or the past or have fun with your troop with awards like "Best Lip Syncher", "Best Air Guitar", "Best Microphone Handling" You'll get card stock and a metallic disc. You'll need your own scissors, glue and paper. Optional music stickers are available at an additional cost. Allow 15 minutes to complete and time for the awards ceremony!

Requirement 3 - Sharing Music
Use the included novelty microphone and put on a show. Sing or lip synch to the music of your choice. Work individually or in groups. Allow 1/2 hour including time to practice and put on a show.

Requirement 5 - What is a Song Made Of
Choose a song with a strong guitar part and play air guitar with the included blow up guitar. Make sure to listen closely to the rhythm and the strumming and try to duplicate what you would think the guitarist would look like while playing.

Requirement 7 - Careers in Music
Besides singers and musicians, there are many other careers in the music field. Journalists, promoters, costume designers and many more. Learn about a career in the industry. Team up with one of your troop members and interview each other about the career of your choice. You can use the badge holder to make back stage passes and use the microphone and sunglasses for your interview. Allow about 10 minutes to make the back stage pass and another 10 minutes to interview.

Requirement 8 - Music: Insight into History
Find music from another time such as Blues, disco, soul. Wear you sunglasses to get in the mood while listening. 

Requirement 10 - Dance Time
Burn your favorite dance music onto a CD and carry it in your own CD case. If you don't have the ability to download and burn, just use the case to store your favorite CD. You can decorate the case with the included clings or the optional stickers.
