What Brownie Girl Scout doesn't love filling up her vest with fun patches?

ABOUT 30¢ PER PROJECT
Kit contains supplies for a maximum of 12 scouts to do four activities. Order a "bag of extras" for troops up to 16. Order 2 full bags for troops of 17 or more.

Besides just collecting, girls get to design their own personal patch and try their skills in our design contest.

Winners receive $50 in craft supplies for their troop.

Available with a "Bag of Extras" for leaders who like to make samples, have extra supplies on hand or to stretch your kit for four additional girls.

If you are a Brownie leader and would like to use this kit to complete your Hobbies Try-It here is our suggestion for fulfilling the requirements. Of course, it is not meant to infringe upon your own interpretation of the badge or the requirements printed in the Try-It book.

Requirement 2 - Adding To Your Collection
We're getting you started with an Embroidered "Fun Patch Collector" patch for each girl. Hand them out and discuss adding to their collections. Will patches be earned such a service patches? Will they commemorate events or trips? How will your troop be paying for them? Allow 10 minutes for discussion.

Requirement 3 - Organizing Your Hobbies
Each girl gets a spiral pad and a label to place on the front. Instruct girls to make a page for each or their existing fun patches. She can draw it, write the name, photo copy the patches, or print a picture from the internet and glue it in place. Have choose patches they wish to collect and make a page for each of those. Discuss which ones you will get as a troop and which ones they may want to talk to their parents about collecting. Include other relevant information on each page. Some ideas are dates, cost, event, trip, etc. related to earning patches. Project will take about 10 minutes to complete and they may want to work on this at home. You'll need glue or tape and a pencil for each girl.

Requirement 5 - Making A Personal Patch
Kit includes a patch worksheet and a blank patch with an embroidered border. Instruct each girl to think of a hobby or talent she is proud of or a trip, event or situation she would like to commemorate. Have the girls sketch ideas on the worksheet. Once she has an idea she likes, she can use the included markers to to make a practice patch in color on the worksheet. Finished idea can then be executed on the cloth patch. Allow 20 minutes to complete. You'll need your own pencils.

Requirement 6 - Show and Tell
MakingFriends.com has a patch design contest. Girls get an opportunity to design a patch for us to produce and market. If we choose your patch, the troop receives $50 in craft supplies. Details are included in the kit. Allow 30 minutes for this activity plus time for the girls to present their idea to troop.
