The ultimate scout kit!

Get it while you can! This "Bag" is being discontinued to make room for new "Badge in a Bags". The current Junior Hiker badge is being retired by GSUSA. Make sure to pick up your badges from the council store while they still have availablity.

LESS THAN 40¢ PER PROJECT                 Kit contains supplies for a maximum of 12 scouts to do six activities. Order a "bag of extras" for troops up to 16. Order 2 full bags for troops of 17 or more.

Your troop of 12 can get outside and be prepared for anything. Earning your Hiker Junior badge is easy with this "bag". A "Bag of Extras" is available for troops with up to 16 girls. 

If you are a Junior Girl Scout leader and would like to use this kit to complete your "Hiking" Junior Badge here is our suggestion for fulfilling the requirements. Of course, it is not meant to infringe upon your own interpretation of the badge or the requirements printed in the badge book.

Requirement 1 - Safety First
Kit includes dog tags. Make sure to contact information as well as medical information on your tag in case you ever get separated from your group.

Requirement 2 - The Right Stuff
Bring along our hooded rain poncho. Small and compact for carrying but excellent protection from a sudden storm.

Requirement 5 - Using a Compass
Learn how to use the included compass and follow a map.

Requirement 7 - Be an Explorer
Use the included notepad and your own pencil to write down descriptions of plants and animals on your hike.

Requirement 9 - Share the Fun
Gather twigs and pebbles while you hike to make SWAPs. Kit includes mini bags, toy compasses and safety pins. You need to make your own SWAP tags. (For those who prefer not to collect items from nature, silk leaves and fish tank gravel can be substituted.)

Requirement 10 - Happy Trails
Make a necklace with a whistle and a flashlight to bring along on your hike. Kit includes whistle necklace, flashlight and beads. You'll need your own AA battery.
