Complete six requirements for your "Aerospace" Junior Try-It.

Kites, gliders, flyers, Frisbees and paper airplanes. Completely hands-on learning fun.

If you are a Junior leader and would like to use this kit to complete your Aerospace Badge here is our suggestion for fulfilling the requirements. Of course, it is not meant to infringe upon your own interpretation of the badge or the requirements printed in the Junior Badge Book.

Requirement 1 - Paper Airplanes
Make and fly three different types of paper airplanes. Kit includes a total of 36 brightly colored sheets of paper. Project will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Requirement 2 - Test Flight
Included is a glider kit for each girl to slide together and fly. Project will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Requirement 3 - Go Fly a Kite
Each girl can make two kites. One with our design and one of her own design. Kit includes printed kite shape to color and cut out, blank kite stock, vinyl streamers for a tail, bamboo skewers for support. You can use the kite string from kite included in requirement 8 . You'll need your own scissors, tape and permanent markers. Project will take about 1 hour to complete.

Requirement 6 - Shoot for the Stars
Included is a 6" finger flyer for each girl to fly. Activity will take about 10 minutes to complete.

Requirement 8 - Space Flight Spinoffs
Included is a 6-3/4" saucer for each girl to fly. Learn about the aerodynamics of lift, drag and weight. Activity will take about 20 minutes to complete.

Requirement 9 - Up, Up and Away!
Each girl gets one 13-1/2" plastic kite and a certificate to fill out. Use the kites and possibly your other flyers to have contests. Award each girl with a certificate such as: Best Kite Design, Highest Flyer, Longest Flyer, Best Frisbee Throw, Most Original Paper Airplane. Activity will take at least 1 hour to complete and makes a great picnic fieldtrip activity.
